The U.S. Department of Energy Bioenergy Technologies Office’s 2023 Billion-Ton Report shows the potential for enough renewable carbon resources, roughly 1.3 billion tons per year by 2050, to provide low-net-emissions liquid fuels for sectors that are hard to electrify: marine, aviation, rail, and off-road.
