An analysis of data collected from a study of electric vehicle (EV) owners shows fast charging statistics over a three-year period from June 30, 2020, to June 30, 2023, and includes a total of about 2.4 million sessions. The average length of time for a paid fast charging session was 42 minutes, consuming an average of 22 kWh of energy. Free fast charging sessions nearly doubled those numbers at 1 hour and 18 minutes and 42 kWh of electricity consumed.

Note: The statistics in this study are from a self-selected set of EV owners nationwide. They do not include charging sessions from Tesla’s Supercharger network.
