Especially compared to gasoline and diesel prices, Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) prices have remained very stable over long time periods. This means that it may be much easier to project operational costs over the lifetime of a new vehicle for CNG fleets than it is for conventional fuels. The cost per gasoline-gallon equivalent (GGE) has also been significantly lower than that of gasoline and diesel, which, in addition to the lower maintenance costs of a CNG vehicle, often results in a lower total cost of ownership for CNG vehicles.
