Join DOE Secretary Jennifer Granholm for a Chat about Energy and the Trucking Industry
Secretary Granholm and representatives of the trucking industry will discuss the importance of trucking, and how emissions in this industry are being reduced.
You are invited to join U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Jennifer Granholm on Thursday, April 15, at 11 a.m. ET, for the U.S. Department of Energy Fireside Chat: Clean Trucks and Moving Freight on the Road to Decarbonization.
This event will focus on the importance of the trucking industry and efforts to decrease its carbon emissions. Secretary Granholm will be joined by Acting Assistant Secretary Kelly Speakes-Backman, Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary Michael Berube, and the following guests:
- Mike Roeth, executive director, North American Council for Freight Efficiency (NACFE), and principal, Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI)
- Joel Morrow, truck driver, Ploger Transportation
- Clark Reed, truck driver, Nussbaum Transportation
The 45-minute chat will include video clips of Joel and Clark’s vehicles and upgrades made to improve their energy efficiency. Mike Roeth will also provide an overview of the NACFE and RMI Run-on-Less program and this year’s venture into electrification. After the speakers’ individual remarks, there will be a discussion among participants about the future of trucking and how it fits into DOE’s decarbonization goals.
