Presenter: William “Bill” Davis, Director, National Alternative Fuels Training ConsortiumNational Alternative Fuels Training Consortium |
About this session:
Guidance on proper CNG, propane autogas, and hydrogen vehicle maintenance facility design is governed by several U.S. code providers, but information readily available is ambiguous at best. This presentation will give the participant recommendations and guidelines on how to proceed in the most time-sensitive and economical manner when building a new or reworking an existing automotive repair facility servicing gaseous fuel vehicles.
Topics to be covered include:
- Differences between gaseous fuel repair facility needs vs. traditional liquid fuel facilities
- Gaseous fuels: Lighter than air vs. heavier than air
- Where to start: Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) and outside consultants
- Applicable codes and standards
- Facility classifications: Major vs. minor repair facilities
- Ventilation, gas leak detection, sources of ignition
- Gaseous fuel vehicle tank inspection, purging, decommissioning, and replacement
- Gaseous fuel vehicle indoor storage
