Fiscal Year 2022 Vehicle Technologies Office Program Wide Funding Opportunity Announcement

On Friday, May 19, 2023, The US DOE's Vehicle Technology Office (VTO) announced over 40 successful grants for funding for Fiscal Year 2022 across the country. U.S. Secretary of Energy Jennifer M. Granholm said “The selected projects reflect the Department’s commitment to advancing the clean transportation sector — from expanding convenient charging options, to growing the future workforce and developing the key technologies that will lead to our fully electrified transportation future.” Secretary Granholm made the FY22 and FY23 FOA announcements while in Minnesota visiting the American Lung Association/Minnesota Clean Cities and Native Sun Community Power Development. We are excited to announce that Louisiana Clean Fuels' application, "Guaranteeing Access to Underserved and Marginalized Populations by Building Employment Opportunities" (GUMBO) was selected for award and will bring $1.25 million of investment to support our workforce development efforts in Louisiana! LCF will partner with Cerritos College and the Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) with the support of eight additional Clean Cities coalitions and community partners to engage underrepresented and under-supported populations in skill building, education, and training that will allow them to enter the workforce and earn a life- sustaining wage. The EVSE installation, maintenance, and repair programs that we pilot in Louisiana, and replicate across the country, will allow individuals from DACs to earn high- demand credentials in EV charging equipment installation, operations and maintenance while supporting the nationwide rollout of NEVI programs.

Additionally, Louisiana Clean Fuels is a sub-recipient of two additional winning proposals:

  • Interstate Renewable Energy Council's EV Smart Communities
  • Electric Power Research Institute, Inc.'s Charging Infrastructure Interconnection Simplification Resource (CIISR): A National Effort to Streamline the Grid Interconnect Process Across the Utility, Fleet, EVSP and MDU Landscape

We are excited to be part of these excellent teams and look forward to kick off these projects once negotiations with the Department of Energy have been completed.
